Usually ships in 1 business days | | | | | | People think of ADD as a kid’s problem. But kids grow up. Many adults also struggle with ADD. There are book resources on the market for these folks. But they are often too long. Or too complicated. Or too dry and clinical. Adults with ADD need straightforward tools for coping with real experiences. This book offers exactly what they need. Each chapter takes up an issue pertinent to adults with ADD: "My mind wanders" "I'm always misplacing things." "I have trouble keeping friends." "I have a hard time getting started." In no more than five to seven pages, the book outlines strategies for each problem that are simple to put into practice. If you’re struggling with adult ADD, the information in this book offers you immediate and lasting rewards: better concentration, sharper memory, enhanced focus, and greater self-confidence. | | | |

too simple Feb 10, 2010 I found the book was too simple. Not enough detail for someone with ADHD to be able to follow through with the "simple solutions"
great book Jan 23, 2010 i bought this book for my fiance who has adult add and he found it extremely helpful. it's laid out in a way that people with add can read (you can read just bits and pieces and jump around in the book), and it has some really great tips. its a definite recommend.
Wasn't Going to Read It Jan 16, 2010 Well, I can't remember the last time I finished an entire book, let alone in one sitting... But I did with this one. As I see it, this book is concise, informative, and - most importantly - applicable.
After reading the reviews for several of these "ADD" books, I decided to borrow a couple from the library. The first one focused primarily on outward organizational issues, which wasn't particularly useful to me. Fortunately, this happened to be the second book that I found. Besides discussing some of the issues addressed in the first book, this one also takes the time to explain the roots and treatment of ADD, as well as give advice for personal improvement, which is what I was really looking for.
While I picked up at Chapter 3 and just perused the next few sections, the book piqued my interest at Chapter 7, and continued to do so through Chapters 8 and 9. The other chapters weren't as pertinent to me, but still had their high points. (See chapter list below.)
--
Chapter 1: Understanding ADD
Chapter 2: Medication
Chapter 3: Reduce Clutter and Get Organized
Chapter 4: Stop Being a "Loser"
Chapter 5: Manage Your Time
Chapter 6: Make Your Money Work for You
Chapter 7: Practice Good Self-Care
Chapter 8: Find a Job that Fits You
Chapter 9: Improve Your Social Skills
Chapter 10: Enrich Your Relationships

So, in brief, this book didn't blow me away, but it gave me some helpful tips, and plenty of food for thought. And, in the end, I'd recommend checking it out.

Buy This First & The Reasons Why! Aug 11, 2009 Newly diagnosed, I spent a whole evening at the bookstore searching for one useful book, to buy; and to soak in as much information as I could from all the others. This book is a perfect starting point for everyone newly diagnosed or suspecting that they may have Adult ADD/ADHD. It is a simple way to begin fixing the damage to yourself and your finances, clutter, relationships and much more. The book also addresses ADD/ADHD friendly ways to manage your time and money effectively, plus it gives you a boost of self-esteem and hope.
Why I chose this book over the other 25 or so that I skimmed through: First, most of the books go into great detail about how to tell if you might have ADD/ADHD. I don't need to know all of the signs and symptoms because I have already been diagnosed. But, even if you only suspect that you may have it, it is still the best choice because it does not have hundreds of pages for you to obsess over symptoms. That issue is addressed, but briefly.
By the third chapter beginning on page 22, the book is already providing information on how the person can begin getting back on track without being overwhelmed. These are action steps to take. Medications are mentioned briefly, which is positive, because your doctor will be prescribing anyway.
Overall, the book seems to be the "Readers Digest" version of the best solutions for the patient to begin taking their life. You can read the entire book in a few hours, max, which is perfect for an ADD person. Because of its simplicity, you can also skip around as needed. It's also the best value of information for your money.
Good reference book! Jul 06, 2009 This is a very small and to the point book, but it is perfect for someone with this issue and can't stay focused long enough to read anything! lol
Everytime I go back and glance at a few pages, I am very amazed at the information it contains and does apply to a person with this issue. Great information for such a tiny book!
