 1 and 2 star people, please, relax... Sep 11, 2009
Those guys who "hated" the book and have "been there and done that", please relax.
I also have a child that has been diagnosed with ASD and I am of the mind that even if I get one idea - yes, even one idea - that can enrich his life or help me to teach him a new skill then whatever I have to do to accomplish that is worth it.
So, I'll ask you, isn't it worth the chance to do this for the one you love? Isn't reading this book worth it for the inexperienced parents among us?
Don't put off other parents who haven't "been there and done that" or minimize their experiences by saying you "have a real son with autism". It's not only insensitive, but it's insulting to all of the parents who face similar issues on a daily basis.

I especially appreciated the valuable ideas about toys for entertaining my granddaughter. I passed the book along to other family members to help them better understand the mystery of autism.

This book gives great ideas for someone who wants to get started helping their child without knowing a lot about therapy. It's an easy read and has great ideas to start implementing them to your child right away.

I cannot help but warn a few. I found this book awful. I just hated it. I found no direction and no substance.
I have a real son with real autism. I could not find one genuine idea (not even one "I discovered that too") amongst all the words. I consider its only possible use to be for those who will never meet a child with ASD and just need that "feel good knowing" an educator might.
The author would have been better to write the single word "think" a thousand times than this.
