The AASIP Program provides a comprehensive and practical approach to teaching social communication skills to children, ages 4-9, with high functioning autism, Asperger's syndrome, learning disabilities, ADD, ADHD, and other disorders that result in social communication deficits. The chapters in this book are equally beneficial for the child who may not have a diagnosis, but can be identified a "social loner." This program may be utilized in both a clinical and school setting. AASIP teaches and reinforces age-appropriate skills to enable students to navigate the social world: This user-friendly manual includes 8 socially relevant modules for children ages 4-6 and 7-9. These topics were derived from parent surveys and from the authors' first-hand experience leading social skills groups. Children will enjoy engaging with their peers as they bolster their confidence and learn how to become social communicators. A critical goal of the AASIP program is to provide parents and professionals with a clear understanding of how to facilitate the integration of a child's newly learned social skills within the context of home, school, and community. The authors' combined years of research and professional experience make this book an invaluable resource!

5excellent manual for teachers/therapists working with children with social interaction difficulties  Mar 17, 2010 By Anna Lim "Anna"
I teach a class for young preteens with social skill difficulties. This book, along with the one for children ages 9-13, has been an excellent and helpful manual in implementing appropriate lessons for the group. As we all know, preteens are usually hard to motivate, however these manuals provide interesting and fresh activitieis to motivate children and to help them learn abstract social concepts. The manuals are also very easy to read, organized, and practical. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who is working with children with social skill difficulties.

5Fabulous Resource for SLPs  Mar 16, 2010 By Belinda W., SLP
I recently purchased this book to assist with planning lessons for my young pragmatic language group. What a fantastic buy! I'm able to use the outlines in the book to plan fun, creative weekly lessons for my clients and the book is filled with interesting activities, which is definitely a major time saver. I would recommend this book to all speech-language pathologists working with children and targeting pragmatic goals. It's a great resource to add to your collection!

5Very Helpful  Mar 16, 2010 By Ashley D. Wiley "Ashley W."
I am working in a school doing speech therapy and have several small groups of children with autism. I found this book to be very hlepful and comprehensive to use in my various social skills groups. It has lesson plans included in it and also all the materials that you need in order to implement the lesson. I felt like the authors were very clear and succinct. It was easy to understand and also easy to use. DEFINITELY A MUST HAVE.

5Must Buy!  Mar 19, 2010 By Natalya Karayeva
My! What a wonderful and informative book to have in a world where there is such a high prevalence of autism! Not only does this book provide appropriate and realistic lesson plans and skill steps, but it can be used in individual therapy. Children with autism struggle so much in every day situations. This book guides the therapists and the parents to help make that struggle easier.

5FINALLY! A Great Resource for Parents!  Mar 16, 2010 By PDUB "PW"
As a parent of an autistic child, this book is incredibly useful.
Few books are written to help aide parents with social skills for their autistic children. Not only is this manual informative, it is also very user friendly. It's chalked full of lessons and activities that are easy to teach children and easy for children to learn and understand. The kids increase their social skills while having fun during the process!
I highly recommend this book for anyone who has an autistic child or knows of anyone dealing with autism. Thank you!
