A valuable resource for parents and teachers Mar 29, 2006
By nora belanger As a special education attorney, I wholeheartedly recommend this book to parents, teachers and administrators. The combined expertise of Dr. Whitbread, an educator who does extensive research on inclusion, and Attorney Eason, a parent and special education attorney who limits her practice to LRE (Least Restrictive Environment) issues, make this book an authoritative and best-practice guide to inclusion for students with disabilities. Best of all, it is full of ideas that are presented in a practical and common sense manner. I chose to purchase the Master Version so that I could take advantage of the distribution rights - for photocopies, email, PDF printouts and web postings. I've already made copies of some of the checklists for use in presentations. I have also purchased 100 copies of the Handout Version, which contains the same information as the Master Copy, to distribute to my clients. This book is an essential tool for parents and schools who are trying to create meaningful inclusion for students with disabilities!

As a high school principal with numerous special needs students, I found IEP and Inclusion tips to be both helpful and useful! Many general education teachers are unsure as to what their respective roles and responsibilities are when it comes to students with an IEP, this is a wonderful resource. I have used it for numerous staff development sessions and have provided some of the hints and tips to parents that are so prevalent in the book. This is a wonderful resource book for both educators and parents.
