A wonderful tool to help individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders recognize emotions within themselves and how those emotions affect their behaviour. Using this tool one can help these individuals to develop strategies to prevent inappropriate behaviors due to intense emotions.

I am a speech pathologist and work in a middle school. I work with a number of autistic students and have two selective mutes as well in my caseload. This book has helped me with both of these types of students. The classroom teachers have only praise for the effect it has had on the students when they return to class and they too can use the behavioral system.

As a teacher of autistic children, this book is invaluable. It is written in language that is easy for my students to understand and follow the directions..... I would be lost with it.

5 Stars for this Hands On Easy to Follow Guide Jan 25, 2008
I received this book for Christmas to add to my autism library and what a wonderful treat. I wish I had this books several years ago when I started working in a class with children who have severe autism. It's so basic and has such great sample charts. It breaks down so many behavior challenges and creates simple charts to help you help your students better understand how to self modulate...from Aspergers to severe, these tools work. They seem so basic, yet I have seen them work great over and over. This basic and easy to quickly read resource should be given to every teacher, parent, administrator, speech and occupational therapist who works with kids on the spectrum. A must buy for any adult working with a special needs child Feb 11, 2007
You can make this work for just about any problem. I now just hold up a finger and my child knows what I am trying to say even my younger child is getting it.
