5Keep on pushing  Jan 09, 2010 By Thoughtful Reader
This book is for any parent who has a child with special needs, or thinks s/he might. It's also for anyone who knows a child with special needs: it will help you see things in a whole new light, and celebrate and appreciate that child (person) as you may never have done before. For a book that covers so much ground, and imparts so much important information, it's a quick read. It will make you think. It will make you look inside, and, if you're an honest person, it will make you wonder about yourself: what you'd have done (what you HAVE done), what you might (or might not) do. It will challenge you to think differently, and it could make a world of difference for someone you already know or have yet to meet. Bravo Diane! Go Sara -- and I hope you'll write your story someday: overlapping with this one and picking up where it left off.

5A Pushy Mom's Story  Nov 04, 2009 By David Tarabar
Diane is my sister. She has written a memoir about the experience of raising her daughter and dealing with her behavioral special needs - ADHD and Aspergers Syndrome. I learned a lot about my niece from reading this well written book. I think that it would be of value to anyone parenting or interacting with a child who has behavioral issues. There is much discussion about how a 'pushy mom' can get what is needed from the public education system.

This is a book you can judge by its cover. The cover photograph was taken by my niece - just one of the talents of a successful college student.

5Pushy Mom is great:)  Nov 07, 2009 By jakesmom37

Buy this book!
I am a therapist, writer, and have a child with ADHD and Aspergers.
I have dozens of ASD/ADHD/Advocacy books. I didn't think I "needed" another one.
I was wrong.

Pushy Mom Syndrome is a helpful, witty, user-friendly book. This is one of the best first-hand accounts I've read.
I know Diane, and know how tirelessly she worked to help her daughter.
Diane's description of the challenges and joys inherent in raising a "complicated' kid is spot-on and doesn't sugar-coat the difficulties.

I value the eloquent reminders that parents and kids *can* achieve success against seemingly insurmountable challenges. The special education process can be confusing, difficult and exhausting.
I wish I'd had this book before I embarked on my journey through the system!

Diane's experience, wit, and insight are evident throughout this invaluable book.
She captures the struggles so eloquently- and reminds us that there's hope.
Her suggestions and quips are terrific.
Her daughter offer priceless insight; her cover photo and comments are beautiful and inspiring.

I've added Pushy Mom to my resource list for clients.
I highly recommend this book.

5Defying Gravity  Aug 05, 2011 By W. Lofaro
I loved this book. I felt as if Mrs Troeller was speaking to me. One of my favorite all time songs is Defying Gravity but to read what it means to Mrs Troeller's daughter, Sara, has given me an all new perspective. If you know anyone on the spectrum, please read this book! Reading this book,, as a parent, you realize your not alone.
