Usually ships in 1-2 business days | | | | | | In this new teaching comic book in the Superflex series, the superhero, Superflex, swoops down to help Aiden overcome the Unthinkable, Glassman (who causes our over-reactions to small things), at just the right time: the first day of school! This very popular comic book works well with K-5 students.
Superflex shows elementary school students how they can use strategies to conquer their own "Team of Unthinkables," including Glassman and other characters. In the process, students learn to calm Glassman and ways to assess the size of problems and other issues. As students face Glassman and other Unthinkables, they build up and learn to flex nimble, new mind muscles -- thinking skills that help them manage and work on the thoughts and behaviors that may be causing them problems.
The step-by-step strategies and lessons in this book guide students, with their teachers and parents, through a full "training session" in their own Superflex academy. Quizzes and tip sheets are built into the book. By teaching students to explore the differences between Superflex and the student's own motley crew of Unthinkables, students can better understand and modify their behaviors and, as they progress and graduate from the academy, see the rewards of doing so!
How to Use the Book
This 67-page teaching comic book is the 2nd publication in a series about Superflex and how he outsmarts the "Team of Unthinkables." This curriculum is laid out in Superflex Takes on Rock Brain and the Team of Unthinkables and the related curriculum. It is strongly recommended that readers of this new comic book read the first book and be aware of the concepts of the Social Thinking curriculum for students with higher-functioning autism, Asperger's, ADHD and similar communicative challenges, diagnosed and not. | | | |

Wonderful series for explosive kids Oct 08, 2011
By TiggersMom

Superflex is a wonderful series (See Superflex vs. Rockbrain) for kids who have executive funtioning problems (get fixated on ideas, over react to small issues). It externalizes the problem to a member of the "Team of Unthinkables" so your child is activated to "fight" the villan who is trying to get them to explode.

Buy this Superflex book Sep 16, 2011
By C. McGrath I purchased both books in the Superflex comic book series for my 7 year old autistic daughter. Since she likes comic books like Captain Underpants and craves Social Stories, I was excited to find this series.
This book - Superflex Takes on Glassman and the Team of Unthinkables (with the yellow cover) - is wonderful. It shows several social challenges that an elementary school student might experience on a daily basis. After showing the situation, the caped super hero goes over strategies how to deal with the situation in a socially acceptable fashion. My daughter really liked this book (as did her speech-language therapist). Given that the book was content rich, it was well worth the $19-20 price tag.
The other SuperFlex book - Superflex Takes on Rock Brain and the Team of Unthinkables (with the white cover) - was not nearly as good. The white cover volume is substantially shorter than, and has a high level of content overlap with, the yellow color volume. Please note that I purchased the books as a standalone items (and not as part of the full social thinking curriculum).
understanding the child with aspergers Dec 08, 2011
By cherie greene This is a valuable tool to help one think the way a child with aspergers thinks. The content allows you get on the same level of understanding and communication. As a grandmother it gave me the needed vocabulary to deal with various situations not experienced with other children. Thank you, Ms. Madrigal and Ms. Winner. C.Greene

Would be a great book if the pages were in order and all there Sep 20, 2011
By N. Christie I was very excited to receive this book for my son. We like the other books in the Unthinkables series. We got to page ten...(my son was really enjoying the story) and were disappointed to find that the next pages were page 3-10 again and then page 19. I went through the book to see if pages 11-18 were there anywhere...no luck. I went though the other pages and found that it skips from page 43-52. Another set of repeated-missing pages. So we are returning this book despite the fact that we very much want to read/own it. Has this happened to anyone else? I would like to order the book again but worry that I will have the same issue with a replacement. The book series is great. I guess that we just got very unlucky.
