5Great product  Aug 09, 2010 By Melissa D. Felthousen "MADF"
Great product for kids who can't tell time yet. I use it for my preschool kids when they need quiet time or time out. I have one mounted in their rooms. When they go to timeout or have quiet time I just set it for the time needed. They can visually see time passing. They know they can't get up until all the red is gone...meaning all the time they're supposed to be in their rooms has elapsed. Works great so I don't have to hear, is it time now??!!!

5A Great Motivational Tool  Mar 21, 2011 By Cannon
The Time Timer (we have the 8 inch model)is also known in schools around the country as "The Magic Clock." It is, essentially, a countdown clock that clearly and effectively displays the remaining time to complete a task.

Before children can tell time with a conventional clock, the Time Timer uses red shading to clearly demonstrate to a young mind how much time remains....it's been an effectively tool in our house when we want a task completed quickly.

The clock is plastic, and some may feel that is seems a bit flimsy. It works very well, nonetheless. It's not a toy, and the rule in our house is, no touching the time timer....only an adult can set the clock. We set it in the morning when the children are getting ready for school. They get ready - completing all tasks - before the time ends, every morning. It has eliminated the constant peek ins to make sure clothes are being put on, beds being made, book bags packed, etc.

You can set the timer up to one hour. It's accurate enough for the purpose outlined above. To set, you move the small plastic bubble counter clockwise to the desired amount of time. The red pie shape shading then shows children, from across the room, a depiction of the amount of time remaning. I think it ultimately helps them grasp how long five minutes is... etc. in a way that the timer on the oven does not.

Being able to duplicate something that is done in school, at home, makes for consistant effort by all involved to encourage responsibility on the part of a child to manage time. It's a great teaching tool!

Battery operated, lasts a long, long time.

Four stars for durability... it could be more rigid (but it's not necessary). 4 stars for fun, although it isn't a toy, children do seem to respond joyfully to the "race against the clock" and 5 stars for educational value - children can learn the value of a time period. What a great intro into learning how to tell time!

5Visual timer  Nov 13, 2010 By Hope
I received the visual timer promptly and have used it a lot for my job and with my own child. It has been great to clock the amount of time working with students and for them to see how much time we have left. It's a great aide for the classroom, providing 1:1 direct service, small groups and at home with children.

Thanks!

5great for reading and getting ready for school  Oct 30, 2010 By Donna M. Taylor
I have 2 3rd grade twins. With all the digital clocks in our house, they have a hard time judging how much time they have left for things. This is great for showing my kids how much time is left for them to read. We also use it for getting ready in the morning. It is extremely easy to use.

4Reduce Tantrums with the Time Timer  Jul 04, 2011 By Michelle Moore
Recently we began using the Time Timer with our son for any types of limited activities. It's perfect for controlling the amount of time spent gaming, playing his iPod, or even sharing with other children. Since we've implemented this timer, we've had less tantrums and more cooperation. I think that this visual timer is something that he can truly understand and appreciate. I see him referring to it throughout an activity. He's able to monitor the time he has remaining and handle the transition much better when his time is up. I highly recommend this timer to anyone that wants to teach the passing of time, or simply improve self-control when transitioning between certain activities.
