Informative for those who have no experience with special ed students Sep 06, 2006

If you're new to the special education world, this book would then be a good read for you. It's simple, opens each secion with a quick story to match the disabilities in the chapter, then goes into breaking down what you need to do for children with disability need from you and what you need to do (leagally) for them.
This isn't a tell all book, meaning, pick up more specialized special ed books as needed, but this book is a great start with very helpful, useful, and practical information.

Special Education Handbook Aug 04, 2007
By Shannon K. Mcclain This is an excellent, inexpensive overview of Special Education impairements/disorders. It concentrates heavily on the 5 forms of Autism. It breaks down the other impairments in a way a general education teacher can understand for IEP's. I think all teachers should have a copy of this. It helps out us Special Educators to keep you up to date.
Information, not a review. Dec 17, 2011
By Joan Please read this. These kids get lost because schools don't know to look for this. Compare this to your childs report. Good luck to all of you!

I've shared this book with other educators, both regular and special education teachers. They are also impressed with its easy-to-understand terms and definitions and its format.
It is an excellent resource for anyone working with students with academic and/or behavioral challenges and/or needs.
