Really superb Aug 13, 2010
I found this book interesting and informative for both adults and kids. It is a wonderful introduction to understanding OCD and how to deal with it.

My 11 yr old son has been having intense worries. It came on suddenly and has stuck around for over a month now. He is in therapy asks if he can see his therapist every day instead of once a week. I ordered this book hoping it would help him at home when he can't talk to his doctor. He loved it! It makes things easy for kids to understand and gives helpful suggestions that have really stuck with him. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who has a child with anxiety or any type of OCD. I usually never pay full price for books but this one was worth it.

I just received three of the books in this series. The font is nice and large and the readings and activities look simple but fantastic. I'm writing to let everyone know that on the books it says "Ages 6-12" but Amazon gives them a reading level of 9-12. They would be perfect to read even to a 5 year old.

When my daughter received an OCD diagnosis, I saturated myself with information, but was still reluctant to believe her drastic change in behavior was OCD. The psychologist recommended this book, and it was an epiphany! I got it! The explanations are simple and explain not only what is happening in the brain with OCD, but it also provides and excellent explanation about the "tricks OCD plays on you." This book really helped us to understand what was going on with our daughter. I wish I could give it 10 stars!

I purchased this book because my 12 year old had OCD behaviors. Shortly after we got the book our daughter was diagnosed with PANDAS. This book does not have all the answers for parents, but it is not written for us. It is written for the child. My only problem with the book is that my daughter or rather her OCD is easily influenced. The doctor describe how he had patients who washed their hands 50 times. We had a few days of hand washing incidents, but luckily it didn't materialize too much. I put tabs on pages in the book to indicate what I should skip over so as not to influence her OCD. It was hard getting her to work in it initially only because it is very hard to resist OCD, and she simply didn't want to do the work. (She refused to go to a therapist.) She likes to draw, so the pages that ask for the child to write a list or draw is appealing to her. This book is not perfect, but I know of nothing else of this format, and it is working for us. That is all that counts, which is why I gave it five stars. This book is short, appealing to a child, and easy to use. Plus it doesn't have any sexual content. It states that it is for children up to 12 years, but I think depending on the child an older one could benefit from it too.
