This book is written for in a very understable way. No big words we don't understand & no blame or shame with this disorder. So much information we never knew or understood untill this was written by James Phelps. Would recomnmend this book for a better understanding of depression & learn of all the help there is for a person & family.

For a person who recently was diagnosed with Bipolar II, I found this book to be full of useful information. Well written and easy to read i would recommend it to anyone with BPII.

This book is good and I think every Physchologist and phychiatrist should have one. It was hard for me to understand even though the author tries to explain it for the patient or reader to understand. I think I'm going to give it to my Phychiatrist on my next session. Every phychiatrist should read this. I've never seen such a book that explains all the many Bi Polars. This could help make a better diagnosis for anyone suffering with mood disordes, mania or depression.
Good Read, where to go when meds just aren't helping May 20, 2010
Book was fairly straightforward with some evidence based information and some facts. Mainly this book gave me insight I didn't have into the bipolar world without ever having mania. It gave me a starting point to talk to my psychiatrist about "where do we go now" after trying so many meds. And where do we go? With a new outlook, we are now trying. At least i can have some hope.

This book was like reading a handbook for myself. I felt like I finally found where I fit. Having suffered from depression for about 12 years I have studied depression and symptoms and I didn't ever quite fit any of the different forms of depression. After seeing a psychiatrist who recommended the book I bought it and read it. But beyond the personal response I had to this book, I felt like it was informative, well organized, and humorous. The author has a personable "voice". My understanding of my behavior, feelings, depression, and hypomania have been greatly enlightened. I HIGHLY recommend this book if you experience depression and your moods swing quickly.
